oh so good That is making me hungry! Another great place for food and atmosphere is Repaz on Main street. My favorite place for pizza is still Blue Jeans...best pie south of NY City. |

Re: Where to eat in Blue Ridge We just tried Meyers Bakery and couldn't beleive how good the bagels were. They rival New York bagels! The owner and his family were baking the most unbeleivable breads and pastries. That store is going to be dangerous when we're up for the weekend. The line was out the door when I got there at 10 a.m and a regular patron told me that this was normal for the morning, well I could see why. If you're visiting for the weekend or have the pleasure of living in Blue Ridge full time, I would highly recomend trying Meyers Bakery. It's slightly off the beaten path, I think East 1st st? the street above the main one way street, located in a strip mall. Try the bagels and baked cheese bread. |

Danielle's Great Eats Deli - Yum!!! You can't beat Danielle's Great Eats for a great lunch. They have a variety of sandwiches (piled HIGH with Boar's Head Brand meat and fixin's, or my favorite, all-veggie sandwich with grilled portabella mushroom, sweet peppers, yellow squash, tomatoes, goat cheese on sour dough!), soup, quiche, burgers, salads, cookies and other homemade desserts. They also serve dinner Friday and Saturday nights too with rib eye steak, grilled chicken, and local trout on the menu. Nice optional outdoor dining under the huge ancient maple tree when the weather is nice - it's a great place to "people watch" while enjoying a good meal and giving your feet a break from shopping! And the servers are so nice and friendly! |

Serenity Garden Cafe Another good local spot for great food and service is Serenity Garden Cafe - they have the best breakfast in the downtown area, and great lunches too (sandwiches and soups). They are tucked behind a neat little door in the heart of the downtown shopping area and also have a nice little outdoor dining area tucked on the side of their business, behind a really cool iron gate in a neat little garden setting. When I want to go into town for breakfast on the weekends, this is the place I pick! |

Best BBQ! Blue Ridge Mountain BBQ up on East First Street! Whenever we are in town we always stop in here for a great lunch. I think they have the absolute "best in the world" brunswick stew, and great beef, pork and chicken. And WONDERFUL smoked chicken salad - YUM! The past couple of years we've had them smoke our holiday turkey and I just can't tell you how wonderful it is! Order it ahead, pick it up the day before, warm it in the oven or bbq grill Thanksgiving or Christmas Day (they include instructions), so moist (yes, even the breast!) and he includes the drippings so you can make homemade gravy or add it to your stuffing. It sure has freed up my holiday cooking! |
